Boss Tenor is my favorite jazz sax album, ever. The quality of recordings is excellent. Gene Ammons was brilliant and a joy to hear. He represents the sound I would like to get out of my tenor sax. Every time I listen to the album, I hear something new. "Canadian Sunset" is my favorite song on the album, but the album is full of great songs/5(68).

Gene Ammons was a true jazz artist, he played with the greatest big bands, his concept was set in early on-and he had the insight into HOW to play a melody with soul and feelin' and get his point across. Any sax player worth his salt, should have this record below- if not make sure you do ASAP. Angel Eyes Gene Ammons.

Jan 06,  · This remastered release has a new title, originally it was released in under the album title Soulful Saxophone on the Chess label, this version is titled Makes It Happen, on the Cadet label. They should have just kept the original title as this LP is very soulful and Ammons saxophone is front and centre of this all instrumental album/5(1).
