Local ultra-downer, Islands, seems to have recently been dumped, gone through a divorce, or lost everyone he’s ever cared zbigoxsopassperreticomdurchmaldiscma.xyzinfoer the deal is – his pain is our gain. Despite the melodrama, A Sleep & A Forgetting is full of fun beachy melodies – just as you would expect from Islands.. *Spoiler alert, don’t expect a happy ending. This dope mope-fest is tragedy at its b.

Acclaimed modernist pop band Islands will release their new album A Sleep & A Forgetting this February 14th via Anti-Records. While the record continues the band’s penchant for crafting adventuresome and infectious state of the art pop music, this time band leader Nick Thorburn has infused the songs with a personal introspection that gives the record a new and powerful emotional resonance.

Lucy Rose - Like I Used To: The only thing that make this album more apt for sleeping would be if there was a deluxe edition, which included Rose's beautiful covers of '9 to 5' and 'Bad Blood'.

A Sleep & a Forgetting is a small album, both by design and in its impact; there are no grand statements made, musical or otherwise, and since this is, really, 37 minutes of no-frills.

On Islands' fourth album, A Sleep & a Forgetting, Nick Thorburn does a pretty good job of the latter. The album deals with the dissolution of his marriage and the upheavals in his life that followed, and unlike previous albums where his words would dance around meanings and emotions, and the music was full of weirdness and artifice, Thorburn and the rest of the band play it straight all the way through.7/
