I love the sound Steely Dan creates on this album. Smooth easy listening and a very clean sound. Remastered on heavyweight vinyl it delivers clean and crisp as the original. A super follow up after the highly acclaimed Aja album. Classics tunes include Time out of Mind, and Hey Niniteen. Definitely recommended album for any collection.

Gaucho is my favorite Steely Dan album, which I get a shitload of flac(k) for from the audiophile forums. It’s just so slick and beautiful, and this Bob Ludwig mastered copy I have beats every single other master I’ve heard, digital or vinyl. That copy of The Royal Scam sounds incredible too (my second favorite, tied with Pretzel Logic).

Steely Dan's Gaucho hasn't aged a day since it was released in , setting the stage for modern Smooth Jazz. Even darker than Aja, it isn't as cohesive an album but still scores song-for-song. "Time Out Of Mind" and "Hey Nineteen" became radio staples while "Babylon Sisters" and "Glamour Profession" may be their ultimate "L.A. is hell" narratives.

Jun 16,  · Nearly every song on this album is a perfect example of Steely Dan's flair for the group's typically sophisticated arrangements and musical prowess. The real issue in this case is the vinyl re-issue by MCA Records, as opposed to a re-issue by an audiophile music label.
